So I'm not a fine wood worker but when people ask what I make as wood worker I usually say sawdust. Bandsaw boxes are a close second though! What I love about bandsaw boxes is that there is very little planning required and no hardware used. You can absolutely sink some design hours in if you want, but you can also just start gluing blocks together until you got a nice big fat rectangle that measures the outside dimensions of your desired box, draw your shape and get to cutting on the band saw!

There are a million YouTube videos on bandsaw boxes but I like old school tutorials with text and photos but this link has both:

I glued together some reclaimed redwood 2x4 from out building repairs at work. The nail holes and staining just add character IMO. The ends have a piece of maple on each end.

I chose this kinda silly bean shape for the drawer. I used shellac and a French polishing technique to get a glossy finish. I can see my glue up slipped and the cross in the middle is slightly misaligned, but that wasn't really planned for anyways.

This box is having some finishing trouble with bubbles but I have been letting it dry out a little more before I reattempt another coat.
