Story Dispenser

So Oakland airport has a short story dispenser, which is whimsical as hell.

The stories are delivered exactly how you think: by CVS receipt.

I'd like to do something like this, either as a direct copy or as a short "make this thing" that prints project "recipes".
It would work well next to that vending machine that we have talked about--push button, get recipe that uses parts from the vending machine next to it.

That is really fun idea!

If not whole stories, it would be fun to make our own Mechanical Turk or Zoltar fortune dispensing machine, but this time less problematic in it's cultural representations...

Oooh that should be cool! Will yours be with your selection of your household's recipes or also an exploration new options like that current site?

Similarly I am trying out an open source kitchen inventory software "Grocy". You can add your recipes and theoretically keep track of your groceries as inventory so you can know what you could actually make given what you have. As always, it suffers from the usual problem of garbage-in/garbage-out so if you don't like data entry it's not a great solution just yet as you need to have all your food items entered for that to work. I don't realistically think I'm going to want to enter all the foods I buy each grocery trip but I'm going to give it a try to see how tenable that really is.

Sorry, I wasn't clear--I'm toying with cloning that site but have it give a maker's project instead of a food-based recipe.

Ooh I've been looking at that one. Lemme know how it goes--the few times I've tried something like that have died almost immediately because we don't catalog the input/output. I've thought about ways to make it easier and haven't found one, so I'm into any ideas.

Oh that is a super cool idea, would be a great tool for a well stocked maker space to get everyone working on something.
